Summary: Snow, Sail, Speed

Why? Why isn't it getting a little warmer in Holland?? Yesterday evening we went to the birthday bash of Bastiaan Tentij in The Hague. And guess what...when we looked outside it was SNOWING. Our first thought was probably like yours: how strange in this time of the year. Our second thought: we have a trainingday tomorrow....brrrrrrr. So we treated ourselves with a drink for a little bit more courage.

Today we woke up early. Stuffed our bags with lots of warm clothing and took of to Muiderzand. And as we expected, it was very cold, about 3 degrees. Purpose of the training was 'speed'. After organizing ourselves in groupes, we were lining up and sailing all over the lake of Ijsselmeer in Holland. It was a very good day...but our hands, toes and noses were frozen when we came back. 

Thanks 'Sail Today' for the tomato soup afterwards!!! It was delicious :).

From now on we're writing our stories in english, so everybody can follow our Blog, jiihaaaaaaa!! If it's not all correct english, just find your way through the stories, I'm sure you'll get the clue ;).

This weekend it was finally good enough to GET WET!!! The sun was shining, 8 degrees, not a lot of breeze, but enough to make it a good trainingday. The subjects of this training were: sailing backwards, positioning in the starting area and starts. Sailing backwards went well. Positioning in the starting area was a challenge with a lot of F18's, we learned a lot. But our trainings schedule would't be complete without our famous gymnastic trics. Well...they didn't went very smoothly this first training, the winterperiod made us kind a like Pinocchio, but I'm sure it will get better in the next few weeks.

Wintertraining 5/2

Een week lang hielden we bijna obsessief windguru, windfinder, weeronline en knmi.nl bij om te kijken wat het weer, en vooral de wind, zou gaan doen op zaterdag 5 februari. Met de windvoorspelling  en de gedachten dat windguru er 9 van de 10 keer naast zit, hadden we hoop op een mooie eerste training van het nieuwe seizoen. We hadden al 2 maanden niet gevaren en stonden te trappelen om het water op te kunnen. Helaas zat windguru er voor deze keer niet naast en werd de training afgeblazen.  In de auto kreeg ik een smsje van Sanne waarin stond:‘O man, het waait echt mega mega hard!! Kunnen wel gruwelijke foto’s maken!!! Heb net al wat geprobeert. Moeten Sappie misschien wel nog even wat extra spanbandjes geven’. Toen we in het clubhuis zaten voor de theorieclinic zagen we in de verte één mast nog harder zwiepen dan alle andere masten. Dat moest Sappie zijn..  In de pauze hebben we de boot voorzien van nog wat extra spanbanden en de grootzeilval moeten vangen, dat  helemaal uit de mast geraakt was. Al met al een leuk en productief dagje. De boot ligt goed vast, we hebben weer wat geleerd en de wind was spectaculair.
